Equipment – Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all pre-owned equipment and new equipment sold by Scientific Calibration, Inc. unless otherwise stated in writing.

1. Taxes & Customs

All prices are exclusive of any applicable sales, use, excise, value-added taxes, duties, or customs fees imposed by governmental authorities.
The buyer is solely responsible for all such charges.

  • Sales tax is calculated based on the shipping destination.
  • Tax-exempt customers must provide a valid tax exemption certificate prior to shipment by emailing accounting@scical.com.
  • Orders may be delayed until proper documentation is received.

2. Shipping & Title Transfer

All equipment is shipped F.O.B. Origin (Shipping Point).

  • Title and risk of loss transfer to the buyer at the time the equipment leaves place of shipment. 
  • Any damage or loss incurred during transit must be resolved directly with the carrier.
  • All shipping, freight, insurance, and delivery charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
  • For customer-arranged or local pickup, Scientific Calibration, Inc. is not responsible for damage once the equipment leaves our premises.

Scientific Calibration, Inc. packages all equipment with care to ensure safe and effective transportation.

3. Equipment Functionality Warranty

Unless otherwise stated, pre-owned equipment includes a 30-day functionality warranty beginning on the delivery date.

Warranty Coverage:

  • Covers parts for functional failures under normal use.
  • Does not apply to items sold “As Is” or “Parts Only.”
  • Buyer is responsible for return shipping to Scientific Calibration, Inc.
  • Scientific Calibration, Inc. will cover return shipment to the buyer after repair.

Warranty Exclusions:

  • Consumables, cosmetic wear, routine maintenance items
  • Damage due to misuse, improper installation, environmental conditions, or unauthorized service

Any manufacturer warranty that applies will be clearly stated in the product listing.

4. Missing Parts, Components, or Accessories

Please review the product description and photos carefully prior to purchase.

  • Only items explicitly listed or shown are included.
  • Missing parts must be reported within seven (7) days of delivery.
  • Claims submitted after this period may not be honored.

5. Non-Functional on Arrival (DOA)

Buyers must inspect, install, and verify proper operation as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Installation and setup must follow manufacturer guidelines.
  • Buyers are responsible for obtaining and reviewing manufacturer documentation.
  • If assistance is needed, Scientific Calibration technicians or the manufacturer should be consulted.

If equipment does not function correctly upon arrival (excluding “As Is” or “Parts Only” items):

  • Notify Scientific Calibration, Inc.  immediately and no later than 348 hours from delivery.
  • A technician will assist with troubleshooting and determine next steps.

Failure to follow proper installation or setup procedures will void the warranty.

6. Packaging Requirements

SciCal takes extensive precautions when packaging equipment . Retain all original packaging materials until the instrument is installed and verified.

  • Returned equipment must be packaged properly and securely.
  • Improperly packaged returns will be refused and returned to the sender at the buyer’s expense.
  • Improper packaging may void the warranty.

Our team is happy to advise your shipping department on proper packaging methods.

7. Returns & Restocking

If a reported issue cannot be resolved:

  • Equipment may be returned within 14 days of approval.
  • A restocking fee of 20% may apply depending on the item.
  • Customized or modified equipment is non-returnable.

All returned equipment will be inspected and tested upon receipt.
Scientific Calibration, Inc.  reserves the right to refuse returns due to misuse, improper handling, or damage.

8. Buyer Responsibility – Research Before Purchase

Buyers are strongly encouraged to:

  • Review specifications and compatibility
  • Confirm application suitability with the manufacturer
  • Consult Scientific Calibration, Inc. sales or technical staff prior to ordering

Returns will not be accepted for incorrectly ordered or unsuitable equipment.

9. Limitation of Liability

Scientific Calibration, Inc. liability is limited to the purchase price of the equipment.
Scientific Calibration, Inc.  is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost productivity, downtime, or business interruption.

10. Acceptance of Terms

By placing an order, the buyer acknowledges and agrees to these Terms and Conditions in full.
